- How are college tennis matches structured?
Each college tennis match has two components: doubles and singles. In doubles, three matches are played to eight games (win by two games) and the team that wins two of the three matches receives one overall point. After doubles, there is a short intermission, followed by six singles matches—worth one point each. Usually, singles matches are played using standard tennis scoring in a best two out of three set format. The team that wins four out of seven points wins the overall match.
Note: There are no “lets” on serves in men’s collegiate tennis, even if the ball hits the net and makes it into the service box.

As a member of the Net Nuts, you will enjoy various prizes and giveaways based on attendance. Typically these items include free food, an Illini Net Nuts t-shirt, raffles, entertaining shows and games at the intermission, and, of course, some great Fighting Illini Tennis!
