1. Why Should I Join Illini Pride?
Illini Pride is the “biggest and best” student organization on campus, boasting over 2,800 members last year. Illini Pride supports all 19 varsity athletic sports and provides a way for you to cheer on your Fighting Illini, get involved on campus and meet new people. Being a part of Illini Pride is a great way to spread enthusiasm for Illinois Athletics and give back to the community. Activities you may look forward to include: football watch parties, barndance, free merchandise, bar crawls, meet & greet sessions with coaches and players, tailgates, road trips and much more!

2. I’m not a big sports fan, why should I join Illini Pride?
Illini Pride offers many social events which are not directly sports related. Such events include a barndance, semi-formal, and bar crawls. Also see Question 5.

3. Is it possible to join Illini Pride after the initial sign-up date?

You may join Illini Pride at any time during the school year! You can sign up at the Illini Pride Cubicle in room 280 of the Illini Union.

4. What do I get for my $25 joining fee?
To become a member of Illini Pride, it costs $25. However, this is a great investment that will prove to be beneficial all throughout the school year. When you sign up with Illini Pride, you receive a t-shirt and membership card. The membership card is extremely valuable because it is an all access pass that gets you in to ALL varsity athletic contests with the exception of men’s basketball and football for FREE. It also gives you remarkable discounts at many campus businesses including Game Day Sports, Follett’s Bookstore, and many more. Many exciting opportunities are also available throughout the year for our members, all free, including bar crawls, a barndance, semi-formal, and many giveaways!

6. What if I lose my Illini Pride membership card?
If you lose your Illini Pride membership card, you may pay $5 for a replacement. In the event that this occurs, please contact Illini Pride President Suzi Blanco at sblanco2@illinois.edu.

7. Do I have to be a member of Illini Pride to join one or more of the existing sub-groups?
You must be a member of Illini Pride to join all existing sub-groups.

8. I was a member of Illini Pride last year, do I need to sign up again this year?
The fee you pay to become a member of Illini Pride covers your membership for one year. If you wish to continue your membership, you must re-join as stated above in Question 3.

9. How may I become a member of the Illini Pride Executive Board?
The Executive Board is an elite group, selected each year through a process which includes an application and interview. Board positions are filled and evaluated each spring.

10. What stance does Illini Pride take in regards to Chief Illiniwek?
Illini Pride takes a neutral stance on the Chief. Our mission statement is based on giving our members the chance to have fun with University of Illinois athletics and other social events. We feel the issue of Chief Illiniwek is better left for each member to decide. Thus, Illini Pride chooses not to speak for its members, but rather, let our members speak for themselves.
